WHY KOEMAN STAYING AT BARCA IS GOOD FOR THE CLUB - By Aayush Seth

It’s safe to say that this season has been a rollercoaster ride for fc Barcelona . At the beginning of the season , the club was in a financial crisis and under the leadership of highly criticized president Josep Bartomeu , the future didn’t look bright. However , things have changed since then. Barca got knocked out of the champions league round of 16 and the club went on a great winning streak which almost made them win the league . They even won the copa del rey. The whole board has changed under the new president Joan laporta . But seeing the recent results , the fanbase is divided on whether to sack the Dutch manager Ronald Koeman . Well here is my view on the issue and why do I think he shouldn’t be sacked .

1. Koeman didn’t get the tranfers he wanted :- We all know that when Ronald Koeman arrived at the club , he took some stern measures such as the decision to sell club legend luis suarez to a title rival in Atletico madrid . These decisions were quite expected seeing that he was handed an ageing squad with a huge wage bill amidst a financial crisis . However he had his own demands too , he wanted players like Memphis depay , Gini Wijnaldum but didn’t get them . the only signings he got was the American right back sergino dest , Pedri and Francisco Trincao . If he got the players he wanted , the squad would have performed way better in my opinion .

2. Growth of academy players :- Koeman has done a lot for the growth of young players like Pedri , Oscar mingueza , Ronald Araujo , Ilaix Moriba and many more . This has provided a lot to the squad as the team looks much fresher and better with the involvement of these young players. Even though people have been critical of his treatment of Riqui puig , that’s up for another debate.

3. The team didn’t even do that bad :- The squad didn’t even do that bad in La liga and other competitons . They won the cup which is very important of course and even though the performances against big teams are questionable , I feel that the team was so close to winning the league had it not been for some individual mistakes by players like Sergi Roberto etc. Well that’s my view on the whole Koeman situation and it would be really fun to watch this team play in the next season with the new signings if Koeman stays.
